Can you make me do something I don't want to do?
You are always aware and in control and are directed by your own will and values. You will only accept suggestions that are appropriate, useful and that meet your morals and values. In fact, Hypnotherapy and NLP can help you to gain control.
But don't stage hypnotists make people do bizarre things?
Stage hypnotists appear to make people do bizarre things while hypnotised - how does this work? In reality these people have a desire to do something outrageous and entertaining. Otherwise, they would not volunteer to be selected. They are carefully selected in the audience by the hypnotist who carries out a series of suggestibility tests to find the most highly suggestible and willing participants. The participants expect to be passive under the control of the hypnotist and be made to do something out of the ordinary - this helps to create a self-fulfilling prophecy. Stage hypnosis is an environment where bizarre things are expected and indeed demanded by the hypnotist and the audience. The participant ends up doing what they indeed set out to do when they volunteered - something bizarre and entertaining!
In therapy, the Hypnotherapist works in a completely different way. In stage hypnosis the approach uses showmanship to emphasise the power of the hypnotist and requires the participant to assume a helpless role. This undercuts the objectives of hypno-psychotherapy whereby the therapist's role is to empower you, give you autonomy and self-efficacy.

Will I say something I don’t want people to know?
People talk very little when they are in a hypnotic state. Even when you are talking you can withhold things as easily as when you are out of a trance state.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions varies with the client and the issues presented. Ginny never makes a decision concerning the number of session without talking face to face with the client and setting outcomes for that person. This is discussed during your first session.
